Classification and Distribution[edit]

Begonia longgangensis is a rhizomatous herbaceous plant species discovered in southwestern Guangxi, China.

Habitat[edit]

This species is known only from the type locality in Longzhou County, Longgang Nature Reserve, Guangxi, China. It typically grows on jagged limestone rocks in evergreen broadleaf forests.

Characteristics[edit]

Begonia longgangensis has broadly ovate to suborbicular leaves that are smaller than similar species like Begonia liuyanii. The leaf adaxial surface is sparsely reddish-scabridulous with minute processes, and the abaxial surface is tomentose on veins.

Flower Details[edit]

The inflorescences of Begonia longgangensis are dichasial cymes with pink flowers, and the peduncles are glabrous.
