Begonia putaoensis is morphologically similar to B. scintillans and is known only from the Putao District in Kachin State, Northern Myanmar.

Begonia putaoensis is a monoecious perennial herb, 10–25 cm tall, with a creeping rhizome. The leaves are ovate to widely ovate, dark green with gray or light-green areas, and the inflorescence is an axillary sub-cory.
