B. ‘Minorikon I’

Obtained in France by Claude Barrère, from the cross in July 2017 of Begonia minor x Begonia ‘Ikon’. The sowing in fall 2017 yielded a few plants of which the only one selected and surviving the following year flourished in September 2018.
In July 2017, four crossings were made. Two male flowers of Begonia ‘Ikon’ were used to pollinate two female flowers of Begonia minor. The fruits matured and the seeds were seeded twice, giving a total of about ten seedlings selected for transplanting. In the following spring, only three plants survived. They were named Begonia ‘Minorikon I’; Begonia ‘Minorikon II’ and Begonia ‘Minorikon III’.
The pollination of the two female Begonia ‘Ikon’ flowers by the pollen of the male flowers of Begonia minor did not yield viable seeds.
Begonia ‘Minorikon II’ is a bushy plant with a prostrate habit.
