Growing outdoors in adobe soil where it is more often dry than wet, this hardy fibrous begonia only 5 1/2 inches tall, with a spread of about I2 inches, hugs the ground making it an ideal ground cover. The shiny, olive-green, narrow ovate leaves have heavily indented veins. The slightly dentate, sparsely hairy leaves with a red sinus are borne on green hairy stems. The stipules are pale green.
