B. bosseri
Planta herbacea ut videtur acaulis, folia unica (?), petiolo glabro 4-7 cm longo lamina membranacea late cordiformi, apice acuto; foliis maximi 6-15 X 6-20 cm, lobis basalibus interdum auricularo-imbricatis, superne sparse spiculatis, inferne glabris, margine dense dentatis, dentibus acicularibus, 5-7 basipalmatinervis. Stipule n.v. inflorescentia unica ad petioli apicem ut videtur nata, pedunculo communi 2-3 cm longo, bractea ovato-acuta, 5 mm longa, caduca, pedicellis gracillimis 10-25 mm longis. Florum MALE tepala 4 (12X 6 mm). inaequalia, basi constricta, interna angustiora. Stamina multa, fasciculata, filamentis brevibus (0,5 mm), antheris 2 mm longis. Florum FEMALE tepala 5 subequalia. Styli 3, apice breve bifidi stigmatibus, incrassis, cordiformibus, ovarium 3-alatum. Capsula n. v. Plant small, appearing acaule. Sheet 1? has "petiole" 4-7 cm long, glabrous; membranous lamina 5-7-palmatinerve at the base, broadly cordiform, 6-15 X 6-20 cm, on the upper side there are small spike hairs, glabrous sparse on the inferior surface terminates in acute tip at the apex, cord at the base, the 2 lobes of the base of the leaf overlapping in large leaves; edges finely dente; teeth very close together, terminated by a fine point; ribs branched towards the edges. Stipules not seen. Inflorescence 1, developing from the apex of the petiole; long axis of 2-3 cm; first branches 1.5 cm long; bracts ovate, acute, deciduous, 5 mm long; pedicel very thick, 10-25 mm long. MALE flowers has 4 tepals uneven, obovate, retrecis towards the base, 12 X 6 mm, the internal ones narrower. Stamens, many fasciculi, very short nets, 0.5 mm long; obovate antheres 2 mm long. FEMALE Flowers has 5 sub-equal tepals, similar to those of flowers. Ovary triaile oblong; styles 3, short bifurcated at the top; stigma thick heart-shaped. Capsule not seen. - Pl. 8, p. 33. The harvest (Duran 71) is represented in the Paris herbarium by poor specimens in flowers and without fruit, but the plant was observed in the Botanical Garden of Tananarive (Tsimbazaza) by J. Bosser, botanist at Orstom, to whom we wanted to dedicate this very particular Begonia whose inflorescence develops at the insertion of the petiole on the limb. This morphology also exists in B. prolifer. A. DC. Southeast Asia.
