These flowers, with a long, vermillion-red perianth, hang gracefully in the manner of Fuchsia flowers. It had been discovered by M. Weddell in the Cordillera of Bolivia, but its introduction into the cultures is due to the indefatigable Mr. Pearce, the traveling of MM. Veitch, who found the plant in the same contrasts. It is a beautiful temperate greenhouse plant. Its stem is herbaceous and glabrous; it rises to 2-3 feet while branching, the leaves have a short petiole. The flowers are numerous and will be highly esteemed.
