B. scapigera ssp. australis
Differs from the typical subspecies by:
Pedicel of the female flower rapidly elongated in fruit and then 7-27 mm long;
ovary elliptic to circular or broadly obovate, 3.5-12.0 x 3.0-4.5 mm; fruit elliptic to circular or broadly obovate, 9.0-12.0 x 3.9-4.5 mm. The generally longer pedicels in fruit, and the shorter and more
roundish shaped ovaries and fruits show a distinct geographical correlation,
which justifies the recognition of a distinct subspecies.
