B. ‘White Star’

Of the many representatives of the Rex begonias, very few have light, elegant constructions, which is why they are used as single plants, for table decorations and seldom in larger displays which is very regrettable for their rich play of colors. But there are always cases where they can be applied very favorably and where their absence is noticeable. On flower tables they should never be absent, for example, and in gardens. With 'White Star', the abundant selection of these unpretentious foliage plants has been enriched with a very precious novelty that will be welcome everywhere. Its leaves reach a considerable size, are silver-white, in the center along the main veins along black-green. The margin is pretty wavy, seemingly serrated, with short, green veins in a broken pattern. The underside of the leaves, as well as the petioles are bright red. All of which showcases 'White Star' and cultivation is the same as for other leaf begonias. The visitors of the Hamburg exhibition will surely recognize the splendid specimen that is found among the plants of the well-known company Sander & Cie. from which it was sent. - G. 0.
