B. ‘Huaerzi’

Hybridized by Wen-Wen Du and Guang-Fen Cui from Flower Research Institute, Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, PR China. Applied for on August 25, 2024 and approved on September 29, 2024.

This rex cultivar first bloomed in 2015 by planned hybridization in 2014, then has been patented (CNA20162072.7) by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the PR China in 2019. It's up to ca. 33 cm tall and ca. 50 cm wide when mature. The light maroon petiole is ca. 22 cm long with maroon hairs. The ovate leaf blade is ca. 19 × 13 cm with a cordate base that has overlapped lobes, a serrate and ciliate margin, and an acuminate apex. The upper leaf surface is light olive green with a dark green center, a wide silver band, and a very narrow dark maroon margin. The lower leaf surface is pale green with maroon veins and a maroon margin. Just few light pink flowers are produced from August to October. Huaerzi in Chinese means waltz.
