B. ‘Love Chocolate’
Hybridized by Yi-Xun Yu, Juan-xu Liu, and Ya-Zhi Liu from College of Horticulture, South China Agricultural University, Guangzhou, Guangdong, PR China. Applied for on December 9,2024 and approved on March 21, 2025.
This textured and compact cultivar was developed in 2022 by line breeding and first bloomed in 2023. It's ca. 11.5 cm tall and ca. 30 cm wide at maturity. The maroon stipules are ca. 10 × 9 mm and the green (maroon when young) petiole is ca. 7.4 cm long. The broadly ovate and slightly bullate leaf blade is ca. 7.6 × 9.6 cm with a cordate base that sometimes has overlapped lobes, a ciliate margin, and an acute apex. The color of leaves is dark olive-green (chocolate when young) with light green main veins and dense hairs. The pinkish 4-tepaled male and female flowers are abundant on a ca. 12 cm long reddish-green peduncle in winter.
