B. 'Saxonia'

The base color is light green. However, the main veins are lighter, while the others are darker. A lovely effect is created by a band—possessing a beautiful, porcelain-like sheen—that runs all the way around the edge and extends into the leaf tip. Small, rounded white spots also appear along the margin. The margin itself is delicately wavy and ruffled, as well as serrated and ciliate. The underside displays a soft green hue with delicate, reddish, net-like veining. The leaf stalk is red but covered with white hairs. Liebig presented 18 hybrids with B. rex as the mother at the Spring 1860 meeting of The Society for Promotion of Horticulture in Berlin.
