B. 'Seriosa'

The center and the outer edge of the leaf are a very dark green—almost black—sometimes shimmering with brown or blue. The intervening space appears light green, yet a ring of pure white spots runs through it, standing out sharply against the somber coloration of the whole. Liebig presented 18 hybrids with B. rex as the mother at the Spring 1860 meeting of The Society for Promotion of Horticulture in Berlin.
