B. 'Frau Maria Fontaine'
The entire leaf, from base to margin, is white. This variety, which matches B. argentea (Linden)(?) in shape and size, does not possess the dull, greenish-white color of the latter; instead, it gleams with a beautiful, solid pearly white. The main veins radiating from the leaf stalk are greenish-yellow. A faint green marking along the leaf margin is not always present. Liebig presented 18 hybrids with B. rex as the mother at the Spring 1860 meeting of The Society for Promotion of Horticulture in Berlin.
