B. gironellae ‘Rain Tormo’

This creeping rhizomatous cultivar is another selection of variable Begonia gironellae which also originally found and propagated by Mr. Rain Tormo in Puerto Princesa. It is ca. 17 cm tall and ca. 29 cm wide when mature. The citrine stipules are ca. 5 × 3 mm and the chartreuse petiole is ca. 15 cm long with sparse hairs. The broadly ovate gla-brous leaf blade is ca. 12.5 × 10 cm with a cordate base that has slightly overlapped lobes, a denticulate and ciliate margin, and an acute apex. The upper leaf surface is maroon, variegated with olive green zones along main veins and the lower leaf surface is light maroon, variegated with pale green zones along main veins. The 4-tepaled pink flowers are abundant on a ca. 34 cm long light maroon peduncle from August to December.
