B. 'Chura'

This rhizomatous cultivar was developed by an artificial cross made in 2022. It is ca. 15 cm tall and ca. 20 cm wide when mature. The brown-orange stipules are ca. 10 × 4 mm and the maroon petiole is ca. 5.5 cm long with hairs. The peltate and broadly elliptic-ovate to almost circular leaf blade is ca. 8 × 5.5 cm and sparsely hairy on both surfaces with a very shallowly dentate to almost entire margin, and an acuminate apex. The upper leaf surface is green with dark brown-red margin and the lower leaf surface is light green with maroon margin. The ca. 2 cm in diameter male flower and the ca. 3 cm in diameter female flower are both 2-tepaled and have a slightly sweet scent. The outside of the tepals turn from orange-red in bud to bright orange-yellow at maturity. Blooms are produced on a reddish-light green peduncle all year round. 'Chura' means frog in Swahili for its texture of foliage. A Swahili name was chosen due to its African parentage.
