B. ‘Nyx’
This ever-blooming cultivar for both terrarium and greenhouse was developed in 2022 by planned hybridization and first bloomed in 2023.
It's ca. 40 cm tall and ca. 25 cm wide at maturity.
The pale pink stipules are ca. 10 × 3 mm and the deep maroon petiole is ca. 2 cm long. The ovate leaf blade is ca. 10 × 6.5 cm with a cordate base that sometimes has overlapped lobes, an undulate margin, and an acuminate apex. The upper leaf surface is dark olive with non-faded and vivid hot pink spots and blotches between veins and margin.
The lower leaf surface is deep maroon. The light pink to vivid red 2-tepaled male flowers and
5-tepaled female flowers are few on a ca. 2.5 cm long maroon peduncle. Begonia 'Nyx' is inspired by the Greek goddess of the night.
