B. ‘Suzelie Louvet’
Begonia created in France by Claude Barrère, following the cross between Begonia ‘Comte de Miribel’ and Begonia foliosa var microphylla (former Begonia fuschsioides). In June and July 2017, the pollen of some male flowers of Begonia foliosa were used to pollinate female flowers of Begonia ‘Comte de Miribel’ which is a cultivar that very easily produces seeds.
The seeds produced were sown in autumn 2017, and the various seedlings sprouted well and gave a multitude of seedlings, some of which was sent to Franck Durand, Jardin Exotique de Cosy Home. At the end of April 2018, the most beautiful plants transplanted during the winter were planted in open ground to be observed and eventually selected. Sixty or so plants have been planted for this selection, from several different seedlings, all bearing seed Begonia ‘Count of Miribel’, but with different crosses, and even crossings due to the chance of nature.
The first blooms appeared at the end of summer, and the selection work could begin.
Thus, in autumn 2018, various plants were selected
