B. ‘Gloire de Jouy’
1889 - Gloire de Jouy (Subpeltate) The form of the leaf and habit of growth are similar to the old Nigricans (Subpeltata Nigricans); in this the color is a soft olive green, slightly dotted silver, and covered with soft, glistening pile; the bloom, which is of fine size and substance (similar to Rex bloom) is of a beautiful shade of pink, making a most beautiful combination of color; leaf 4” x 9”.
1890 - Gloire de Juoy must be seen in bloom to be appreciated, the contrast between its olive green foliage and large pink flowers is very fine.
