B. ‘Victoria’
1860 Le Bon Jardinier New Begonias; In the B. Victoria, we also saw only leaves coming from a short, squat, barely visible stem. The lamina, of a dark green above, is enhanced by vast longitudinal spots of irregular contour which fill a large part of the spaces circumscribed by the veins. The rest of the sheet is pleasantly sanded and smeared with the same silvery hue. The underside is a uniform wine red as well as the petioles, which are covered with white hairs.
In its habit and leaf shape, this species closely resembles the previous one. The color of the leaves is extraordinary and exceptionally beautiful: the upper surface is a greenish-brown, upon which countless silver flecks gleam; broad, silvery bands of unequal length extend between the main veins and radiate from the base to the circumference. The underside of the leaves is a beautiful purplish-pink, reticulated with a darker red.
