B. ‘Curly Cloud’

No. 625 - Begonia (B. socotrana X B. 'Bokit') 'Curly Cloud' This bulbous begonia differs from others in the two spirals at the leaf sinus, and the dark pink, everblooming panicles spectacular with 40 male flowers on a raceme terminating in one female flower. Leaves are light green, heart-shaped, 9 x 9 cm (3 ½ x 3 ½”); margin slightly serrate; texture firm; nerves 5; petioles green, red-spotted; stipules small, green. Flowers are shaped like those of B. socotrana, 4 cm (1 ½”), four male petals, five females, hanging clusters Hiemalis-like, on 15 cm (6") stem. The plant was developed by Leslie Woodriff, address above, in 1976; it first bloomed in 1977. Registered Aug. 25, 1977.
