This Begonia very particular among the Malagasy species presnt by its vegetative apparatus some similarities with the Begonia jussiaeicarpa Warb. and B. macambrarensis Exell from Africa. The hypothesis of an allochthonous species, introduced and modified a long time ago, might not be out of the question, although the zone or this B. coursii exists in Madagascar is known by the fact of original endemisms for other groups.
